Information about the BRMS licenses

The software license agreements for IBM products are published on these pages, where you can search for the product ID, for example, 5770-BR2.

BRMS (5770-BR2)

IBM Backup, Recovery and Media Services for i (BRMS) is now available with a new subscription pricing option that enables clients to acquire this licensed program product (LPP) on a term basis.

The new subscription term option for BRMS provides all features of the product in one package.  BRMS Subscription Term characteristics:

  • New product ID 5770-BR2

  • Base, Advanced, and Network features are all included in one purchase price

  • The pricing is per processor, whereas the non-expiring BRMS product (5770-BR1) is one price per server and the price is based on software tier

  • BRMS Subscription term is available for BRMS 7.4 and later

  • Product 5770-BR2 cannot be installed with product 5770-BR1 already installed. You must delete product 5770-BR1 using option 12 on the GO LICPGM menu or using the DLTLICPGM command.

QUSRBRM is not removed when the product is deleted, do not delete library QUSRBRM.

The subscription licensing has the following characteristics:

  • Pay for what you need on a term basis, with IBM Software Maintenance (SWMA) included in the price

  • One-year, two-year, three-year, four-year, and five-year subscription terms available

  • In addition to the standard subscription term durations, BRMS (5770-BR2) offers a 90-day option for customers who require a short-term license for uses such as migrations to new servers or migrations from on-prem to IBM Power

Supported releases included:

  • Version 7.5

  • Version 7.4

BRMS (5770-BR1)

There are two licenses for each release: Option 1 has a separate license since it has a flat charge, and the rest is under a license for price based on processor group of machine. The "License information" and base license are both part of the terms.
