During new system installations, the system name is set using the format Sxxxxxx.
...
The system name can be viewed after installation using the Display Network Attributes (DSPNETA
) command and changed using the Change Network Attributes (CHGNETA
) command.
The distributed relational database architecture (DRDA) automatically adds a local relational database (RDB) directory entry for the system that has the same as the system. Typically, users change the system name but then neglect to change the *LOCAL RDB name. It is recommended that the system name and the *LOCAL RDB name are the same but it is not required. The *LOCAL RDB entry is required to do any connection to the local database. The *LOCAL RDB entry also stores configuration data related to distributed data management (DDM) that should be maintained if the *LOCAL RDB entry is deleted and then recreated.
To rename the *LOCAL RDB name on the system, use the following steps:
- Run
DSPNETA/CHGNETA
to verify the system name is set to the value to be used as the *LOCAL RDB name. - Run the Change DDM TCP/IP Attributes (
CHGDDMTCPA
) command and record the DDM configuration information. - Run the Remove RDB Directory Entry (
RMVRDBDIRE
) command to remove the *LOCAL RDB entry. Reply G to message CPA3E01. - Run the Start SQL Interactive Session (STRSQL) command to cause a new *LOCAL RDB entry to automatically be created.
- Run
...
-
CHGDDMTCPA
and reset the DDM configuration information recorded earlier.
