Recovering and Printing Reports in an iASP Flash Copy Environment

When needing to recover, manage data or print recovery reports in an iASP Flash Copy environment, users have two options to include the iASP saved data that may have being saved on a different system in the BRMS network. It is possible to use either the ASP device (ASPDEV) parameter on the Start Recovery using BRM (STRRCYBRM) command or use the option to set up Specific System Synchronization.

ASP Device (ASPDEV) Parameter on STRRCYBRM

To use this option on the Start Recovery using BRM (STRRCYBRM) command, users can specify up to 25 auxiliary storage pool devices from other systems in the BRMS network

 ASP device:                                      ASPDEV
   From system  . . . . . . . . .                *LCL
   Auxiliary storage pool . . . .          *ALL
   Objects  . . . . . . . . . . .                     *ALL

ExampleSTRRCYBRM ASPDEV((FCPROD IASP01))

NOTES:

  1. This parameter is only valid when *SYSTEM or *ASPDEV is specified for the Option (OPTION) parameter.

  2. The From system (FROMSYS) parameter must specify the system where the IASP is backed up (the FlashCopy node)

  3. To include objects in auxiliary storage pool devices saved on other systems in the recovery, the current system must be receiving media content  information from the systems which saved the auxiliary storage pool device information.

  4. To recover objects in auxiliary storage pool devices saved on other systems, the current system must have devices which support the density of the media volumes containing the saved items.

  5. Does not work for reports created via Start Maintenance for BRM (STRMNTBRM)
