Add Nodes to a Hub for an Entire BRMS Network

This example will setup an Enterprise Network for one traditional BRMS Network. The Hub does not need to be in the BRMS Network and the Enterprise Network will not impact the BRMS Network. It allows recovery reports to be generated and stored for each of the systems.

To Navigate to the Enterprise 'Hub Center' panel:

  1. On a Hub, open 'Backup, Recovery and Media Services'.
  2. Select 'Enterprise Services'.

The Enterprise Network will be managed through an Enterprise Hub. The Hub must be at IBM i release 7.1 or higher. BRMS systems must be identified as Enterprise Nodes on the Hub in order for the Hub to monitor BRMS activities for the systems. Since the Nodes being added to the Enterprise Network for this example are from the same BRMS Network, a Node Policy will be created specifically for the BRMS Network:

  1. Navigate to the Enterprise 'Hub Center' panel.
  2. Click tab 'Node Groups'.
  3. Click button 'Add'.
  4. Specify BRMSGRP1 for the 'Node Group' field.
  5. Click button 'OK'.
  6. Click tab 'Node Policies'.
  7. Click button 'Add'.
  8. Specify BRMSNET1 for the 'Name' field.
  9. Specify BRMSGRP1 for the 'Node group id' field.
  10. Click button 'OK'.

Create the Nodes on a Hub:

  1. Navigate to the Enterprise 'Hub Center' panel.
  2. Click button 'Add'.
  3. Specify the communication information for one of the systems in the BRMS Network.
  4. Click button 'OK'.
  5. Select action 'Add all systems in the BRMS network' for the Node that was just added.
  6. Click button 'Yes'.

Create a Report Definition for the Node Policy BRMSNET1. The Report Definition will schedule recovery reports to be generated for all the Nodes associated with Node Policy BRMSNET1. Defaults will be used for the Report Definition so it will run everyday at 10:00AM.

  1. Navigate to the Enterprise 'Hub Center' panel.
  2. Click tab 'Node Policies'.
  3. Select action 'Properties' for Node Policy BRMSNET1.
  4. Click tab 'Report Definitions'.
  5. Click button 'Add'.
  6. Specify RCYRPT1 for the 'Name' field.
  7. Click button 'OK'.

In addition to running at the scheduled times, the Report Definition can be run immediately:

  1. Navigate to the Enterprise 'Hub Center' panel.
  2. Select action 'Properties' for a Node.
  3. Select tab 'Report definitions'.
  4. Select action 'Run Report' for Report Definition RCYRPT1. Note: Do not take any actions until the Report is complete, a panel will be displayed indicating whether the Report ran successfully.
  5. Click button 'OK'.

To see Reports generated for a Node:

  1. Navigate to the Enterprise 'Hub Center' panel.
  2. Select action 'View Reports' for a Node.
  3. Select action 'View Report output' for a Report.
  4. Select action 'View Report' for Report output.
  5. Click button 'Close'.

To see Reports generated for Report Definition RCYRPT1 on a Node:

  1. Navigate to the Enterprise 'Hub Center' panel.
  2. Select action 'Properties' for a Node.
  3. Select tab 'Report Definitions'.
  4. Select action 'View Reports' for Report Definition RCYRPT1.
  5. Select action 'View Report output' for a Report.
  6. Select action 'View Report' for Report output.
  7. Click button 'Close'.
