Add Nodes to a Hub for Individual BRMS Systems

This is a simple example for an environment which has individual systems that are not segmented with any specific organization. It allows recovery reports to be generated and stored for each of the systems.

To Navigate to the Enterprise 'Hub Center' panel:

  1. On a Hub, open 'Backup, Recovery and Media Services'.
  2. Select 'Enterprise Services'.

The Enterprise Network will be managed through an Enterprise Hub. The Hub must be at IBM i release 7.1 or higher. BRMS systems must be identified as Enterprise Nodes on the Hub in order for the Hub to monitor BRMS activities for the systems. Create Nodes on a Hub:

  1. Navigate to the Enterprise 'Hub Center' panel.
  2. Click button 'Add'.
  3. Specify the communication information for one of the systems in the BRMS Network.
  4. Click button 'OK'.
  5. Repeat the previous step to add additional systems to the Enterprise Network.

By default, the new Nodes will be associated with shipped Node Policy QNODEPCY. QNODEPCY is shipped with Report Definition QREPORTDFN. QREPORTDFN will generate a recovery report for a Node everyday at 10:00AM. In addition to running at the scheduled times, the Report Definition can be run immediately:

  1. Navigate to the Enterprise 'Hub Center' panel.
  2. Select action 'Properties' for a Node.
  3. Select tab 'Report definitions'.
  4. Select action 'Run Report' for Report Definition QREPORTDFN. Note: Do not take any actions until the Report is complete, a panel will be displayed indicating whether the Report ran successfully.
  5. Click button 'OK'.

To see Reports generated for a Node:

  1. Navigate to the Enterprise 'Hub Center' panel.
  2. Select action 'View Reports' for a Node.
  3. Select action 'View Report output' for a Report.
  4. Select action 'View Report' for Report output.
  5. Click button 'Close'.
