Quickplace for IBM i joins Domino for IBM i in supporting true online backup capability with Backup, Recovery, and Media Services for IBM i. Online backup implies that Quickplace, Domino and other Lotus Server databases on the IBM i can be saved while they are in use, with no save while active synchronization points. This is true online backup support.

BRMS Online Lotus Server Full Backups have been supported since R5.02c. It continues to be supported on each subsequent Domino release (including Domino 6 releases).

BRMS Online Lotus Server Incremental Backups have been supported since R5.08. It continues to be supported on each subsequent Domino release (including Domino 6 releases).

You can direct your online backups to a tape device, an automated tape library device, save files or to the cloud.

It is critical that you do not replace your complete system backup with only online Lotus Server backups. The online Lotus Server backups only backup databases. There are other important Lotus Server pieces of data including libraries, files in the Lotus Server IFS directories and other non Lotus Server system data that should be backed up on some regular basis (ie. QUSRSYS, QGPL, etc).

For more information, see the V6R1M0 BRMS manual: SC41-5345-06 Backup,Recovery, and Media Services for AS/400
