titleUpgrading to PowerHA SystemMirror for i 7.5

When upgrading from a prior release, if 5770HAS option 1 is not installed, the manual installation of 5770HAS Option 1 is required either before or after the upgrade.

Since PowerHA 7.5 has a new product structure (including new SWMA PIDs), this requires an upgrade in e-config rather than in IBM Entitled System Support (ESS). The following behavior applies to upgrades:

  • If SWMA is active on the PowerHA entitlement for which you are upgrading, config adds the PowerHA 90-day SWMA PID for $0; then order placers can select the brand SWMA extensions.

  • If SWMA is not active on the PowerHA entitlement from which you are upgrading, config adds the after-license fee for one year of SWMA; then, order placers can select the brand SWMA extension.

Info

Note: Upgrades from PowerHA 7.4 and earlier Express or Standard Editions to PowerHA 7.5 will have an upgrade charge since PowerHA 7.5 is one edition with all functionality.

PowerHA has been enhanced so that planned switchovers or unplanned failovers will always use the QSYSNOMAX job queue for IASP vary on and off operations regardless of the user initiating the operation. This reduces the chance of a held job queue or hitting the restriction on the maximum number of active jobs in the subsystem, reducing the time required to perform the CRG switchover.

Note: This does not affect CRG user exit programs; the job queue referenced by the user profile parameter specified when creating or changing the CRG will continue to be used. The job queue specified in the user profile’s job description is used for submitting user exit programs regardless of the user initiating the planned switchover operation.
