When using the Duplicate Media using BRM (DUPMEDBRM) command to duplicate BRMS media, the expiration date of the duplicated media will not normally have the same expiration date as the original media.

In releases IBM i 6.1 and later, if If *FROMVOL is specified for the Expiration date (EXPDATE) parameter on the DUPMEDBRM command, the expiration date of the duplicated media will be set to the expiration date of the original media.

NOTES:

  • In release IBM i 6.1, the following PTF or their superseding PTFs are required:

6.1 SI33975

  • In release IBM i 7.1, the following help text was added for the EXPDATE parameter in a future release:

Output file sequences and volumes from this duplication operation are assigned the expiration dates of the input file sequences and volumes.

In release V5R4M0, the expiration date of the duplicated media will be set to the expiration date of the original media if the value for the EXPDATE parameter is set to one of the following values:

.

...

NOTE:

  • In release V5R4M0, the following PTF or their superseding PTFs are required:

ADDITIONAL:

  • The EXPDATE parameter on the DUPMEDBRM command is not used to set the expiration date of the media that is created when a value other than *NONE is specified for the Save media information (SAVMEDINF) parameter on the DUPMEDBRM command.   The expiration date for media file that is produced using the SAVMEDINF parameter will always be set using the expiration date from the media policy specified on the To media policy (MEDPCY) parameter.
