In release IBM i 7.2 and later, the The reorganize BRMS database option of the Start Maintenance for BRM (STRMNTBRM) command can be run in a batch job by specifying *BATCH for the Reorganize BRMS database (RGZBRMDB) parameter.   When a batch job is used, the STRMNTBRM command may end much sooner than the batch job which allows normal BRMS activity to be resumed while the BRMS database is being reorganized.

NOTE:

In release IBM i 7.2 and later, if If *YES is specified for the RGZBRMDB parameter on the STRMNTBRM command and data area QUSRBRM/Q1ARGZPFM exists, the reorganize BRMS database will be run in a batch job.  To have future STRMNTBRM commands run the reorganize BRMS database in the same job as the STRMNTBRM when *YES is specified for the RGZBRMDB parameter, run the following command to delete data area QUSRBRM/Q1ARGZPFM:

     DLTDTAARA DTAARA(QUSRBRM/Q1ARGZPFM)

Batch support for RGZBRMDB in releases IBM i 6.1 and 7.1

In release IBM i 6.1 and 7.1, the reorganize BRMS database option of the STRMNTBRM command can also be run in a batch job.  Since the RGZBRMDB parameter does not support a value of *BATCH in these releases, data area QUSRBRM/Q1ARGZPFM can be used to indicate that reorganize BRMS database should be run in a batch job when *YES is specified for the RGZBRMDB parameter.  Run the following command to create data area QUSRBRM/Q1ARGZPFM:

CRTDTAARA DTAARA(QUSRBRM/Q1ARGZPFM) TYPE(*CHAR)

When *YES is specified for the RGZBRMDB parameter on the STRMNTBRM command and data area QUSRBRM/Q1ARGZPFM does not exist, reorganize BRMS database will be run in the same job as STRMNTBRM.  Run the following command to delete data area QUSRBRM/Q1ARGZPFM:

DLTDTAARA DTAARA(QUSRBRM/Q1ARGZPFM)

NOTE:
